Self-Diagnostic System: Notes

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with an air bag system. To prevent air bag deployment, disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes before servicing instrument cluster. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

NOTE: The following procedures were written for use with a DRBIII® scan tool. Other scan tools can be used, but may have limited functions.

Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under driver's side of instrument panel, left of steering column. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) from all modules. If communication was not established with one or more modules, perform appropriate COMMUNICATION FAILURE test under COMMUNICATIONS under SYSTEM TESTS in BODY CONTROL MODULES - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test(s). See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITION table. If no DTCs exist, diagnose instrument cluster by symptom. See SYSTEM TESTS .
