Rear Brake Shoes & Drums: Installation
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Lubricate brake shoe-to-backing plate contact surfaces with Brake Lubricant (4796269). Ensure adjuster lever contacts star wheel on automatic adjuster assembly.
- Ensure tension clip is installed on threaded area on automatic adjuster. Once all components and rear brake drum are installed, remove locking pliers from parking brake cable. This will remove slack from parking brake cables and parking brake will automatically be adjusted.
- Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Adjust rear brake shoes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES under ADJUSTMENTS.
CAUTION:
Tension clip must be installed on threaded area on automatic adjuster assembly. If tension clip is located on non-threaded area on automatic adjuster, automatic adjuster assembly will operate incorrectly.
