Parking Brake Pedal Mechanism: Removal
- Lock parking brake pedal automatic adjuster in place. See PARKING BRAKE CABLE under ADJUSTMENTS. Disconnect negative (ground) cable from battery, and isolate cable from battery terminal. Remove left front door sill moulding from driver-side door opening. Remove left kick panel, steering column cover and reinforcement from lower instrument panel. Remove front parking brake cable from parking brake cable equalizer.
- Remove tension from front parking brake cable. Remove 3 bolts mounting wiring junction block to instrument panel. Remove lower and upper bolts mounting brake pedal to body.
- Pull downward on front parking brake cable while rotating parking brake pedal mechanism from behind junction block. Remove parking brake pedal release cable from parking brake mechanism. Remove ground switch for Red brake waning light from parking brake pedal mechanism. Tap cable housing end fitting from bracket on parking brake pedal mechanism.
NOTE:
Parking brake pedal automatic adjuster must be locked in place before servicing parking brake pedal mechanism.
