Instrument Cluster Self-Test: Notes

NOTE: To avoid misdiagnosis, do not perform the following instrument cluster self-diagnostic test unless instructed to do so. Diagnose instrument cluster by symptom. See appropriate test under SYSTEM TESTS . If it is necessary to perform self-diagnostic test, the system test will instruct you to do so.

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Press and hold trip odometer reset button. While holding button, turn ignition switch to ON position. Continue to hold button about 5 seconds until odometer VF window displays SOF and a number (example, SOF 3.2) showing software version. If a problem exists, odometer will display Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION table. If any DTCs are present, note DTC and complete self-test. If no problem exists, END (end of DTC test) will be displayed. Go to next step.

After DTC display ends, instrument cluster will go into each of the following tests in order: calibration test, odometer segment test, and electronic transmission range indicator segment test.
