Removal & Installation (Mechanical Transmission Range Indicator)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove lower steering column bezel and knee bolster panel. Disconnect transmission range indicator cable from shift lever by flexing end of transmission shift cable rearward. Disconnect clip holding indicator cable to shift cable bracket. Remove upper steering column bezel. Remove instrument cluster bezel screws. Tilt steering column down. Remove instrument cluster bezel. Remove instrument cluster-to-instrument panel screws.
  2. Rotate top of instrument cluster rearward. See Fig 1. Unplug wire connectors from cluster. Remove instrument cluster carefully while guiding range indicator and guide tube through opening. Remove instrument cluster. To install, reverse removal procedure.
