Low Oil Pressure Warning Light Test
The low oil pressure indicator will illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position without engine running. The lamp also illuminates when the engine is running if the engine oil pressure drops below a safe oil pressure level.
- To test low oil pressure warning light, turn ignition on. If warning light does not illuminate, check for a loose or open wire at oil pressure switch located at front of engine. If wire is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Using jumper wire, ground oil pressure switch connector terminal. Turn ignition on. If warning light does not illuminate, check for burned-out bulb or disconnected socket at rear of instrument cluster. If warning light illuminates, check oil pressure. If oil pressure is okay, replace oil pressure switch.
