Occupant Restraint Controller (Orc)

The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is mounted to the floor panel transmission tunnel between driver and passenger-side front seats. ORC contains Impact sensor, energy reserve capacitor and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). ORC determines direction and severity of impact, deploys air bags and monitors system readiness. In the event of a system fault, ORC lights AIR BAG warning light and records system DTCs. DTCs and information regarding frequency and elapsed time of faults are stored in OBD memory until fault is resolved and memory is cleared.
