A/C System Performance

  1. Ensure ambient air temperature is at least 70°F (21°C). Park vehicle out of direct sunlight. Install manifold gauge set and a tachometer to vehicle. Install a thermocouple to evaporator inlet line. Turn A/C on. Set A/C controls to recirculated air, panel (vent) mode, full cold and blower to high speed. Start engine and hold at 1000 RPM with A/C clutch engaged.
  2. Close all doors and windows. Warm engine to operating temperature. Insert thermometer into left center vent. Operate system for 5 minutes to allow system to stabilize. Compare temperatures from center vent and evaporator inlet line. Evaporator inlet line temperature should be no more than 10°F (-12°C) cooler than discharge air temperature. If discharge air temperature is not as specified, check refrigerant system charge level or evacuate and recharge A/C refrigerant system with specified amount of refrigerant. See SPECIFICATIONS .
