Manual HVAC Systems - Except Coupe: Description

WARNING: To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG SYSTEM SAFETY article in GENERAL SERVICING.

Manual A/C-heater system consists of Heater, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) control panel located in center bezel of instrument panel. See Figure. In addition to HVAC control panel, A/C-heater system consists of blower motor, blower motor resistor, evaporator, evaporator temperature sensor (probe), mode door actuator, A/C compressor, A/C pressure transducer, expansion valve, high pressure relief valve, receiver-drier (accumulator), thermal limiter switch, condenser/radiator fan motor assembly, and relays.

Manual A/C-heater system provides complete control of vehicle cabin climate at HVAC control panel. A full range of temperatures, various air outlet modes and blower motor speed settings can be achieved from HVAC control panel. Actual A/C-heater system functions for HVAC control panel settings (except blower switch) are controlled by Body Control Module (BCM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
