Thermal Limiter Switch

NOTE: Thermal limiter switch is not serviceable. If it is necessary to replace a defective switch, A/C compressor and thermal limiter switch must be replaced as an assembly.

Disconnect thermal limiter switch wiring connector. Measure surface temperature of A/C compressor. Using DVOM, check continuity between thermal limiter switch terminals. Continuity should not exist when A/C compressor surface temperature is 252-262°F (122-128°C). Continuity should exist (switch contacts are closed) when A/C compressor surface temperature is 225-235°F (107-113°C). If continuity is not as specified, replace A/C compressor.
