Test N: Vibration

NOTE:
If vibration occurs when driving at constant speeds, or when accelerating in high gear, likely cause may be an engine related problem, abnormal torque converter clutch pressure, or faulty TCC solenoid, torque converter, valve body or PCM.
- Using scan tool, attempt to actuate TCC solenoid. If solenoid operation can be heard, go to next step. If solenoid operation cannot be heard, replace TCC solenoid. See SOLENOID VALVES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Test drive vehicle with oil temperature sensor disconnected. If vibration problem is still present, go to step 4 . If vibration does not occur, go to next step.
- Check torque converter pressure. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TESTS under PERFORMANCE TESTS. If pressure is as specified, replace torque converter. If pressure is not as specified, go to step 5 .
- Check engine control, ignition and fuel systems. Check for engine mechanical malfunctions. Repair as necessary.
- Disassemble valve body and inspect. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. Check for loose bolts, damaged "O" rings, valves and valve bodies. Repair or replace as necessary. If symptom is eliminated, diagnosis is complete. If symptom is not eliminated, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
