Test K: Incorrect Shift Points (Some Gears)

NOTE: If some shift points are incorrect while driving, likely cause may be faulty valve body. If valve body is okay and shift points remain consistent under PCM control, disconnecting battery for at least 10 minutes, and then driving vehicle may be necessary to relearn shift points.

Using scan tool, enable INVECS-II CANCEL COMMAND. Test drive vehicle. If standard (non-controlled) shifting occurs normally, go to step 3 . If standard shifting does not occur normally, go to next step.
If problem occurs only when ATF is -20°F (-29°C) or less, or 257°F (125°C) or greater, go to next step. If problem occurs regardless of ATF temperature, go to step 4 .
Shifting points may be related to learned PCM control, and are considered normal operation.
Disassemble valve body and inspect. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. Check for loose bolts, damaged "O" rings, valves and valve bodies. Repair or replace as necessary. If symptom is eliminated, diagnosis is complete. If symptom is not eliminated, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
