Test D: Vehicle Does Not Move (Forward Or Reverse)

NOTE:
If vehicle does not move in forward or reverse when shifted to any gear position with engine idling, likely cause is abnormal line pressure, powertrain malfunction, faulty oil pump or valve body, low fluid level or faulty PCM.
- Measure hydraulic pressure for each element in forward and reverse gears. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TESTS under PERFORMANCE TESTS. If pressure is within specification, check level and condition of transaxle fluid. Repair or replace as necessary, then go to step 3 . If pressure is not within specification, go to next step.
- Disassemble valve body and inspect. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. Check for loose bolts, damaged "O" rings, valves and valve bodies. Repair or replace as necessary. If symptoms are still present after repairs, go to step 4 .
- Remove transaxle assembly. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Disassemble transaxle and inspect planetary carrier, output shaft and differential assemblies. Repair as necessary. See appropriate OVERHAUL article.
- Remove transaxle assembly. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Replace oil pump assembly. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. If symptom is eliminated, diagnosis is complete. If symptom is not eliminated, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
