Test A: Vehicle Does Not Move

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: If engine does not start with gearshift lever in "P" or "N" position and vehicle will not move, likely cause may be faulty engine control system, PNP switch, transaxle control cable assembly, torque converter, transaxle oil pump or PCM.
  1. Check engine control, ignition and fuel systems. Check for engine mechanical malfunctions. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, go to next step.
  2. Check PNP switch and transaxle control cable assembly. If manual control lever position does not correspond to gearshift lever position, adjust, repair or replace as necessary. Check torque converter for proper installation. Check for damaged splines inside torque converter. Repair or replace as necessary. If torque converter is okay, replace oil pump assembly. See appropriate OVERHAUL article. If symptom is eliminated, diagnosis is complete. If symptom is not eliminated, replace PCM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
