Fail-Safe Mode

NOTE: Transaxle will enter fail-safe mode when certain DTCs are set. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .

Electronic control system incorporates a fail-safe system in the event that an electronic component should malfunction. Fail-safe system will control transaxle operation until the malfunction is repaired. If failures exist in certain electronic components and is detected 4 times, transaxle may remain in 2nd or 3rd gear. This is referred to as "fail-safe mode". Park, Neutral and Reverse gears will operate in fail-safe mode, but only one forward gear will operate.
