Description & Operation

Clutch is a single-plate, dry-disc type with a hydraulic release system. The clutch pedal arm actuates clutch master cylinder through an adjustable push rod. The clutch release cylinder push rod, in turn operates the release bearing fork. Models equipped with 2.4L engine use a push-type clutch release bearing and fork system; models equipped with 3.0L engine use a pull-type clutch release bearing and fork system. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . On all models, a clutch interlock switch is used to prevent engine cranking with the clutch engaged. Clutch interlock switch is wired in series between starter circuit and ignition switch.
