Gearshift Mechanism: Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install shifter mechanism. See Figure. mechanism-to-floor pan nuts to 17 N.m (150 in. lbs.).
- Install gearshift cable into conduit bracket and onto shift pin. Install retainer clip. See Figure.
- Tighten cable adjuster nut to 23 N.m (200 in. lbs.).
- Insert interlock cable core wire into interlock adjustment lever groove. Make sure the interlock cable slug is seated in the groove. See Figure.
- Insert interlock cable adjuster end into bracket and snap into place. See Figure.
- Adjust the gearshift and interlock cables. Refer to Adjustments in this article.NOTE: Gearshift and Interlock cables MUST be adjusted. Refer to the Adjustments section in this article for proper procedures.
- If equipped with Autostick, connect the Autostick connector. See Figure.
- Install center console assembly. See Figure.
- Connect range indicator lamp and install gearshift bezel. See Figure.
- Install the gearshift knob and tighten set screw to 2 N.m (20 in.lbs.). See Figure.
- Connect the battery negative cable.
