WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use Mopar(R) Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant, or equivalent, on retainer and extension housing/adapter plate to seal to transaxle case.
- Position differential case to ring gear. Install ring gear-to-differential case bolts and draw ring gear into position. See Fig 1. Torque bolts to 95 N.m (70 ft. lbs.).
1 - RING GEAR BOLTS - Install side gear thrust washers. See Fig 2.
1 - SIDE GEAR THRUST WASHER - Install differential side gears. See Fig 3.
1 - SIDE GEAR - Install pinion gears and thrust washers 180° apart. See Fig 4.
1 - WASHER 2 - PINION GEAR - Rotate pinion gears into position, ensuring the anti-rotate tabs are located into the differential case as shown. See Fig 5.
1 - ANTI-ROTATE TAB 2 - POCKET - Install pinion shaft. See Fig 6.
1 - PINION SHAFT - Install pinion shaft retainer. See Fig 7.
1 - PINION SHAFT RETAINER - Install pinion shaft retainer/ring gear-to-differential case bolts and torque to 95 N.m (70 ft. lbs.). See Fig 8.
1 - PINION SHAFT RETAINER - Position differential side bearing cone onto differential as shown. See Fig 9.
1 - DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY 2 - DIFFERENTIAL BEARING - Using Tools 5052 and C-4171, install differential bearing to differential (ring gear side). See Fig 10.
1 - C-4171 2 - INSTALLER 5052 - Using Tools L-4410 and C-4171, install differential bearing to differential (ring gear side). See Fig 11.
1 - TOOL C-4171 2 - TOOL L-4410 - Using Miller Special Tool 6061 and C-4171, install differential bearing race to bearing retainer. See Fig 12.
