40TE Automatic Transaxle: Installation

- Install transaxle to engine. Install and torque transaxle-to-engine bolts to 95 N.m (70 ft. lbs.).
- Install upper mount to transaxle.
- Raise engine/transaxle assembly into position and install thru bolt. Torque thru bolt to 70 N.m (55 ft. lbs.).
- Remove transmission jack and screw jack.
- Install torque converter bolts.
- Install torque converter dust shield.
- Install starter motor assembly and lower bolt.
- Install front mount/bracket assembly.
- Install rear mount/bracket assembly.
- Install halfshafts. (Refer to DIFFERENTIAL & DRIVELINE/HALF SHAFT - INSTALLATION)
- Lower vehicle.
- Install starter upper bracket-to-block bolt.
- Connect oxygen sensor harness connector.
- Install throttle body support bracket (if equipped).
- Connect crankshaft position sensor connector (if equipped).
- Connect gearshift cable to manual valve lever.
- Connect output speed sensor connector.
- Connect input speed sensor connector.
- Connect transmission range sensor connector.
- Connect solenoid/pressure switch assembly connector.
- Connect oil cooler lines to the transaxle. An audible 'click' should be heard. Verify connection by pulling outward.
- Install dipstick tube.
- Install air cleaner assembly.
- Connect battery negative cable.
