Section 79 (HVAC Systems - Except Coupe): Plumbing: Receiver/Drier: Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The receiver/drier stores unnecessary refrigerant, filters the refrigerant, helps remove moisture from the refrigerant and retains any refrigerant vapor that may leave the A/C condenser until it becomes a liquid. See Fig 1.
The receiver/drier is installed on the high-side of the A/C system and is serviced only as part of the liquid line (Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/LIQUID LINE - DESCRIPTION) .
