A/C Condenser: Installation

NOTE: If the A/C condenser is being replaced, add 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.

Carefully position the A/C condenser onto the radiator in the engine compartment.

Install the two bolts that secure the A/C condenser to the radiator. Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).
If equipped, install the power steering fluid cooler onto the A/C condenser.
Connect the A/C discharge line and the A/C liquid line onto the A/C condenser (Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/LINE-A/C DISCHARGE - INSTALLATION) and (Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/LINE-A/C LIQUID - INSTALLATION) .
If equipped, remove the tape or plugs from the automatic transmission cooler lines and the cooler ports located on the left end of the A/C condenser and connect the lines to the ports.
Install the upper radiator support crossmember (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/RADIATOR SUPPORT CROSSMEMBER - INSTALLATION.)
Install the front fascia (Refer to FRAME & BUMPERS/BUMPERS/FRONT FASCIA - INSTALLATION) .
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Evacuate the refrigerant system. (Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM EVACUATE ).
Charge the refrigerant system. (Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHARGE ).
Check the automatic transmission fluid level as required. Fill as required. Refer to appropriate DIAGNOSIS & OVERHAUL article.
