Compressor Manifold And Gasket

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: To prevent the entrance of dirt and moisture into the A/C compressor, have all replacement components readily available to minimize the time the system must be opened.
NOTE: The Visteon HS-15 A/C compressor has a replaceable compressor manifold which contains the fittings for the refrigerant lines and the high pressure relief valve.
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. (Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY  ).
  2. Remove the bolts that secure the A/C suction line and A/C discharge line to the A/C compressor manifold.
  3. Disconnect the A/C suction and discharge lines from the A/C compressor manifold and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  4. Install plugs in, or tape over all of the opened refrigerant line fittings and the compressor manifold ports.
  5. Remove the four bolts that secure the compressor manifold to the A/C compressor. See Fig 1.
  6. Remove the compressor manifold and gasket from the A/C compressor.
  7. To minimize the chance of compressor damage, go directly to the Compressor Manifold and Gasket Installation procedure.
