Thermal Limiter Switch - 2.0L/2.4L Engines
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The thermal limiter switch is not serviceable. If the switch fails, the A/C compressor must be replaced.
The thermal limiter is calibrated to open and close at the following temperatures:
- Open circuit (no continuity): 122° - 128° C (252° - 262° F)
- Close circuit (continuity): 106° - 116° C (225° - 235° F)
Test the thermal limiter switch as follows:
- Disconnect the wire harness connector from the thermal limiter switch.
- With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the two thermal limiter switch terminals. If no continuity is present, replace the A/C compressor (Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING/A/C COMPRESSOR - REMOVAL) .
