A/C Heater Control: Description
Both the manual temperature control (MTC) and the automatic temperature control (ATC) heating-A/C systems use electrical controls. These controls provide the vehicle operator with a number of setting options to help control the climate and comfort within the vehicle.
The A/C-heater control for the MTC system or ATC system is located to the right of the instrument cluster on the instrument panel. See Fig 1 and Fig 2.
The MTC A/C-heater control panel contains a rotary-type temperature control switch, a rotary-type mode control switch and a rotary-type blower motor speed switch. The A/C-heater control also has a push button to activate the rear window defogger (EBL) system and to turn the A/C on.
The ATC A/C-heater control panel contains push-button mode and temperature control switches and a rotary-type blower motor speed switch. The A/C-heater control also has a push button to activate the rear window defogger (EBL) system and to turn the A/C on.
The A/C-heater control cannot be repaired and, if faulty or damaged, it must be replaced. The illumination lamps for the A/C-heater control are available for service replacement.
