Hub / Bearing: Installation

- Thoroughly clean all hub and bearing assembly mounting surfaces on steering knuckle.
- Install hub and bearing assembly in steering knuckle aligning bolt holes in bearing flange with holes in steering knuckle.
- Install 3 mounting bolts and tighten evenly to ensure bearing is square to face of steering knuckle. Tighten mounting bolts to 110 N.m (80 ft. lbs.) torque. See Figure.
- Slide driveshaft outer C/V into front hub and bearing assembly.
- Install steering knuckle onto upper ball joint stud and install nut.
- Using a crow foot and torque wrench, tighten upper ball joint nut to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.) torque.
- If equipped with antilock brakes, install wheel speed sensor cable routing bracket on steering knuckle. See Figure. Install and tighten mounting bolt to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.) torque.
- Install brake rotor, and caliper, shoes and adapter assembly. (Refer to BRAKES/HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL/ROTOR - INSTALLATION)
- Clean all foreign matter from threads of outer C/V joint stub axle.
- Install hub nut on C/V joint stub axle threads. With vehicle brakes applied to keep stub axle from turning, tighten hub nut to 203 N.m (150 ft. lbs.) torque.
- Install wheel and tire assembly. Install wheel mounting nuts and progressively tighten in crisscross sequence. Tighten nuts to a torque of 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.).
- Lower vehicle.
- Set front toe on vehicle to required specification. (Refer to SUSPENSION/WHEEL ALIGNMENT - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
