Crankshaft Oil Seal - Front: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Remove accessory drive belts (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - REMOVAL) .
  3. Remove crankshaft damper (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - REMOVAL)  .
  4. Remove timing belt (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - REMOVAL)  .
  5. Remove crankshaft sprocket using Special Tool 6793 and insert C-4685-C2. See Fig 1.
    CAUTION: Do not nick shaft seal surface or seal bore.
  6. Use Tool 6771 to remove front crankshaft oil seal. See Fig 2. Be careful not to damage the seal surface of cover.
