Crankshaft Oil Seal - Front: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install new seal by using Special Tool 6780. See Fig 1.
  2. Place seal into opening with seal spring towards the inside of engine. Install seal until flush with cover.
  3. Install crankshaft sprocket using Special Tool 6792. See Fig 2.
  4. Install timing belt and timing belt covers (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - INSTALLATION)  .
  5. Install crankshaft damper (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - INSTALLATION)  .
  6. Install accessory drive belts (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
  7. Connect negative battery cable.
