Self-Diagnostic System: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2001 Dodge Caravan, 2001 Chrysler Voyager, and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

SRS is monitored by Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). ORC contains safing sensor, an integral sensor in circuitry of system, which is used to deploy air bag modules.

ORC monitors critical input and output circuits within SRS, ensuring they operate correctly. Some circuits are tested continuously; others are checked under certain conditions. ORC provides information about SRS through AIR BAG warning light and DRB tester. Each circuit monitored by ORC has a corresponding DTC assigned to it.
