Test 8A: Left SIACM, Seat Squib Circuit Short To Battery (Active Code)

NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect left side impact air bag module connector located between seat back and seat cushion. Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) to harness side of left side air bag connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Read side air bag DTCs. If DRB displays LEFT SEAT SQUIB CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY, go to next step. If DRB does not display LEFT SEAT SQUIB CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY, replace left side impact air bag module. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Access and disconnect left SIACM connector. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS load tool adapter to left SIACM harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Measure voltage between ground and left SIACM harness connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green-White wire). See Figure . If voltage is present, repair short to battery in Light Green-White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and left SIACM harness connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green-Orange wire). See Figure . If voltage is present, repair short to battery in Light Green-Orange wire. If voltage is not present and no other malfunctions are detected, replace left side impact air bag module.
