Test 7A: Left SIACM, Seat Squib Circuit Short (Active Code)

NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect left side impact air bag module connector located between seat back and seat cushion. Access and disconnect left SIACM connector. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (SIACM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS Load Tool adapter (8443) to left SIACM connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Read left SIACM DTCs. If DRB displays LEFT SEAT SQUIB CIRCUIT SHORT, go to next step. If DRB does not display LEFT SEAT SQUIB CIRCUIT SHORT, replace left side impact air bag module. See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Connect SRS load tool to harness side of left side air bag module connector. Measure resistance between SIACM connector terminals No. 1 (Light Green-Orange wire) and No. 2 (Light Green-White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short in wiring harness between Light Green-Orange and Light Green-White wires. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is more than 5 ohms and no other malfunctions are detected, replace left side impact air bag module.
