Test 56A: Air Bag Warning Indicator On Without Trouble Codes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2001 Dodge Caravan, 2001 Chrysler Voyager, and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
All active DTCs must be diagnosed and resolved prior to performing this procedure.

Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. On DRB, select PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIRBAG, MONITOR DISPLAY and WARNING LAMP STATUS. Read WARNING LAMP STATUS display. If DRB displays LAMP REQ BY ACM: ON, replace ORC. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If DRB does not display LAMP REQ BY ACM: ON, repair instrument cluster and/or related circuit malfunction.
