Test 35A: Orc, Passenger SBS Open (Active Code)

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Disconnect passenger-side front seat belt switch connector. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground Light Blue-Tan wire and Light Blue-Gray wires individually on harness side of seat belt switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is present at both wires, replace passenger-side pretensioner. If voltage is not present at both wires, go to next step.
  2. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between ORC connector terminal No. 19 and seat belt switch connector Light Blue-Tan wire, and ORC connector terminal No. 20 and seat belt switch connector Light Blue-Gray wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit between ORC connector and seat belt switch.
