NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disconnect driver-side seat belt pretensioner connector. See Figure . Connect SRS Load Tool (8443) and appropriate jumper to harness side of pretensioner connector. Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect SRS load tool adapter to harness side of ORC connector. Measure resistance between ground and driver-side pretensioner connector Light Green-Dark Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in driver-side pretensioner Light Green-Dark Green wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and driver-side pretensioner connector Light Green-Yellow wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in driver-side pretensioner Light Green-Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC.
