Test 14A: Orc, Driver SBS Short To Ground (Active Code)

NOTE:
Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST
after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
- Disconnect driver-side front seat belt switch connector. See Figure . Connect DRB to DLC. Turn ignition switch to ON position. On DRB display, read active DTCs. If DRB displays DRIVER SBS CIRCUIT OPEN, replace driver-side seat belt pretensioner. If DRB does not display DRIVER SBS CIRCUIT OPEN, go to next step.
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between seat belt switch connector Light Green-Tan and Light Green-Gray wires. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short circuit between seat belt switch Light Green-Tan and Light Green-Gray wires. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and seat belt switch connector Light Green-Tan wire and Light Green-Gray wire individually. If resistance is less than 5 ohms on either wire, repair short to ground in seat belt switch Light Green-Tan and/or Light Green-Gray wire(s). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, and no other malfunctions are detected. replace ORC.
