Occupant Restraint Controller (Orc)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan, 2001 Dodge Caravan, 2001 Chrysler Voyager, and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is mounted on a bracket, under the instrument panel, forward of storage bin. ORC contains Impact sensor, energy reserve capacitor and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). ORC determines direction and severity of impact, deploys air bags and monitors system readiness. In the event of a system fault, ORC lights AIR BAG warning light and records system DTCs. DTCs and information regarding frequency and elapsed time of faults are stored in OBD memory until fault is resolved and memory is cleared.
