INSPECTION PROCEDURE O-8: The driver's or passenger's door switches signal is not sent to the ETACS-ECU.: Diagnosis

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Required Special Tools:

  1. STEP 1. Check the door switch.
    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

SWITCH POSITION TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION
    Released 1 - 2 Less than 2 ohms
    Pressed 1 - 2 - 3 Open circuit

Q: Is the door switch in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step 2.

NO:  Replace door switch. The driver's and passenger's door switches input signal should be able to be checked and the functions, which are described in the "TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT) ," should work normally.

  2. STEP 2. Check the door switch installation state.
NOTE: The door switch is grounded to the body through the mounting screws.

Remove the cap and measure the resistance between the lower metal part and the ground.

    • The resistance should equal 2 ohms or less.

Q: Is the measured resistance 2 ohms or less?

YES  : Go to Step 3.

NO:  Check the installation state and repair. The driver's and passenger's door switches input signal should be able to be checked and the functions, which are described in the "TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT) ," should work normally.

  3. STEP 3. Verify the location of malfunction.

Q: Which door switch signal is not input?

    Driver's door  : Go to Step 4.

    Passenger's door  : Go to  Step 6.

  4. STEP 4. Check the driver's door switch connector D-13 and ETACS-ECU connector C-319 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

Q: Are driver's door switch connector D-13 and ETACS-ECU connector C-319 in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step 5.

NO:  Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to , HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION . The driver's door switch input signal should be able to be checked and the functions, which are described in the "TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT) ," should work normally.
