INSPECTION PROCEDURE O-6: The washer fluid level switch signal is not sent to the ETACS-ECU.: Diagnosis

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Required Special Tools:

  1. STEP 1. Check the washer fluid level switch.
    TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

SWITCH POSITION TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION
    Upper position 1 - 2 Open circuit
    Lower position 1 - 2 Less than 2 ohms

Q: Is the washer fluid level switch in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step 2.

NO:  The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary. The washer fluid level switch input signal should be able to be checked and the functions, which are described in the "TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT) ," should work normally.

    2. Measure the resistance between terminal 1 and ground.
      • The resistance should equal 2 ohms or less.

Q: Is the measured resistance 2 ohms or less?

YES  : Go to  Step 5.

    NO:  Go to Step 3.

  3. STEP 3. Check the washer fluid level switch connector A-32 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

Q: Is washer fluid level switch connector A-32 in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step 4.

NO:  Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to , HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION . The washer fluid level switch input signal should be able to be checked and the functions, which are described in the "TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT) ," should work normally.

  4. STEP 4. Check the wiring harness between washer fluid level switch connector A-32 (terminal 1) and ground.

Q: Are the wiring harness between washer fluid level switch connector A-32 (terminal 1) and ground in good condition?

YES  : No action is necessary and testing is complete.
