INSPECTION PROCEDURE D-3: Power Window Relay: Only driver's power window does not work by operating power window main switch.: Diagnosis

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Dodge Stratus and 2005 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Required Special Tool: 

  1. STEP 1. Check the power window motor (LH) operation. 
    1. Remove the power window motor (LH). (Refer to DOOR GLASS AND REGULATOR .)
    2. Connect a battery directly to the motor terminals and check that the motor runs smoothly.

      • Connect terminal 1 to the positive battery terminal
      • Connect terminal 2 to the negative battery terminal
      The slider moves up
      • Connect terminal 2 to the positive battery terminal
      • Connect terminal 1 to the negative battery terminal
      The slider moves down

    Q: Is the power window motor (LH) in good condition? 

    YES  : Go to Step 2.

    NO:  Replace the front power window motor (LH). The power window (LH) function should work now normally.

  2. STEP 2. Check power window main switch connector E-12 and front power window motor (LH) connector E-11 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. 

    Q: Are power window main switch connector E-12 and front power window motor (LH) connector E-11 in good condition? 

    YES  : Go to Step 3.

    NO:  Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to , HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION . The power window (LH) function should work now normally.

  3. STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between power window main switch connector E-12 (terminals 1 and 5) and front power window motor (LH) connector E-11 (terminals 1 and 2). 

    Q: Is the wiring harness between power window main switch connector E-12 (terminals 1 and 5) and front power window motor (LH) connector E-11 (terminals 1 and 2) in good condition? 

    YES  : Replace the power window main switch. Check that the power window (LH) function normally.

    NO:  The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary. The power window (LH) function should work now normally.
