Oil Cooler Flushing: Notes

CAUTION: Whenever a transaxle failure is present, oil cooler must be flushed. Torque converter and oil cooler by-pass valve in transaxle must be replaced. Oil cooler by-pass valve is located in transaxle case, behind oil pump. See appropriate OVERHAUL article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. If vehicle is equipped with 2 oil coolers (one in radiator tank and one in front of radiator), flush oil coolers separately. Do not attempt to flush both oil coolers at one time.

NOTE: Manufacturer recommends Cooler Flusher (6906) for flushing oil cooler. Use only petroleum-based flushing solvents. Do not use solvents containing acids, water, gasoline or any other corrosive liquids.

NOTE: Always reverse flush when flushing oil cooler and lines.
