DTC 34: Connector Lock System Detects Connector Unlocked: Diagnosis

Required Special Tool: 

  1. STEP 1. Check the SRS-ECU connectors C-137 < Vehicles without SRS side-airbag >/C-137 and C-145 < Vehicles with SRS side-airbag >. 

    Q: Are the connectors correctly engaged? 

    YES  : Go to Step 2.

    NO:  Engage the connectors correctly. Then go to  Step 3.

  2. STEP 2. Check the SRS-ECU connectors C-137 < Vehicles without SRS side-airbag >/C-137 and C-145 < Vehicles with SRS side-airbag > for damage. 
    1. Disconnect the SRS-ECU connectors C-137 and C-145.

    2. Check the connector lock switch terminal inside the harness side connector for improper contact or deformation.

    Q: Are the SRS-ECU connector C-137 and C-145 in good condition? 

    YES  : Erase the DTC memory, and recheck if any DTC sets. If DTC 34 sets, replace the SRS-ECU (Refer to SRS CONTROL UNIT (SRS-ECU)  ). Then go to Step 3.

    NO:  Repair or replace the SRS-ECU connectors C-137, C-145. Refer to , HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION . Then go to Step 3.

  3. STEP 3. Check for DTC. 

    Q: Is DTC 34 set? 

    YES  : There is no action to be taken.

    NO:  The procedure is complete (If no malfunctions are found in all steps, an intermittent malfunction is suspected. Refer to TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
