Basic Idle Speed Adjustment (Sebring Coupe & Stratus Coupe)
- Ensure engine coolant temperature is 176-203°F (80-95°C), all lights and accessories are turned off and transmission is in Park or Neutral. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to 16-pin DLC. See Figure .
- Start engine and let it idle. Using scan tool, select actuator test item No. 30 to hold Idle Air Control (IAC) motor at basic idle speed. Idle speed should be 650-750 RPM.NOTE: Basic idle speed has been set by manufacturer and should not need readjustment. Before adjusting basic idle speed, ensure spark plugs, injectors, IAC motor, compression, etc., are all normal.
- If idle speed is low, remove air intake hose, and inspect throttle valve for deposits. Clean throttle body as necessary. See THROTTLE BODY . If throttle valve is clean, adjust basic idle speed by turning speed adjusting screw. See Fig 1 or Fig 2 .
- Press CLEAR on scan tool to release IAC motor. Turn ignition off. Disconnect scan tool. Start engine and let it idle for about 10 minutes. Ensure idle is normal.
