Removal (Inner CV Boot)

  1. Remove axle shaft. See AXLE SHAFTS . Clamp axle shaft horizontally in vise with protected jaws. Remove both clamps from tripod boot. See Fig 1. Remove CV boot from tripod housing, and slide boot down axle shaft.
  2. Separate axle shaft from tripod joint housing. When removing tripod joint from housing, hold tripod rollers in place to prevent rollers and needle bearings from falling off. Remove snap ring retaining tripod joint to axle shaft. Remove tripod joint from axle shaft. Remove CV boot from axle.
