Installation (Inner CV Boot)

  1. Slide CV boot small clamp onto axle shaft. Install NEW CV boot onto axle shaft. Install tripod joint, and then install snap ring onto end of axle shaft. Ensure snap ring is fully seated into axle shaft groove. Using grease provided in CV boot service package, distribute 1/2 of the grease into tripod housing. DO NOT use any other type of grease. Place remaining grease into the NEW CV boot. Slide tripod joint into tripod joint housing.
  2. Position small end of CV boot over boot retaining groove on axle shaft. Ensure bead inside CV boot is seated into groove on axle shaft. Install small CV boot clamp evenly over boot. Crimp bridge of small CV boot clamp using Clamp Installer (C-4975A) or, if using low profile latching type boot clamp, use Clamp Locking Tool (YA3050). See Fig 1.
