Axle Shafts: Installation
- Lubricate transaxle oil seal with clean transmission fluid. Holding tripod joint and axle shaft level, insert tripod joint into transaxle side gear. Push tripod joint into transaxle side gear until snap ring is engaged. Ensure snap ring is fully engaged into transaxle side gear by pulling outward on tripod housing by hand. Tripod joint will not be removable by hand if snap ring is fully engaged.
- Ensure outer CV joint mating surfaces, and steering knuckle mating surfaces are free from debris and moisture. Install outer CV joint into steering knuckle. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check transaxle fluid level and fill if necessary. Check wheel alignment.
