Test 3: Left Rear Speed Sensor Circuit Failure
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, clear system trouble codes. Turn ignition off, and then on. Check for DTC. If DTC sets again, go to next step. If DTC did not set again, go to step 5 .
- Turn ignition off. Inspect Left Rear (LR) Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS). If sensor is damaged or connector is disconnected, repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light, check sensor 12-volt supply circuit at sensor connector terminal No. 1. Measure resistance between ground and sensor signal circuit at sensor connector terminal No. 2. If test light was bright and resistance was 100-300 ohms, replace LR WSS. If test light was not bright or resistance was not 100-300 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LR WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Turn ignition on. Check both LR WSS circuits for short to battery, ground, to each other and for an open. For the purpose of this test, a short to ground must be below 15,000 ohms. If any circuit short or open was found, repair WSS circuit short or open. If no circuit short or open was found, replace CAB.
- Turn ignition off. Visually inspect wiring harness. Check for chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires. Check harness connectors and broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Repair connectors and wires if necessary.
