Test 17: Instrument Cluster Lamp Fault
- Turn ignition on. Attempt communication with mechanical instrument cluster. If scan tool displays BUS +/- SIGNAL OPEN, go to appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. If scan tool does not display BUS +/- SIGNAL OPEN, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Observe instrument cluster indicators. Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator illuminated for several seconds and then went out, go to next step. If ABS indicator did not illuminate for several seconds and then went out, go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition off. Remove ABS valve power fuse No. 21 from IPM. Perform Key-on Bulb Check. If ABS indicator remains on after bulb check, test is complete. If ABS indicator does not remain on after bulb check, replace CAB.
- Turn ignition off. Depress and hold ODOMETER RESET button. Turn ignition switch from OFF position to ON position. Release ODOMETER REST button. If instrument cluster indicators and gauges activate and deactivate, replace CAB. If instrument cluster indicators and gauges do not activate and deactivate, replace instrument cluster.
NOTE:
Scan tool communication with CAB must be operational for result of this test to be valid.

The purpose of this test is to perform instrument cluster self test.
