Both Heated Mirrors Inoperative

  1. If heated mirrors and rear window defogger are inoperative, see REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER INOPERATIVE  . If heated mirrors are inoperative but rear window defogger operates, check fuse No. 6 (10-amp), located in instrument panel junction block, on left end of instrument panel. See Figure . If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, check for short circuit between fuse No. 6 and outside mirror connector(s) or between fuse No. 6 and Natural 8-pin HVAC controller connector C1 terminal No. 2. See Fig 1 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Remove either front door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect mirror electrical connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press rear window defogger button on. Using test light connected to ground, probe outside mirror connector Light Blue/Yellow wire terminal. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in wires between fuse No. 6 and outside mirror connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  3. Using test light connected to battery voltage, probe outside mirror connector Black wire terminal. If test light illuminates, replace outside mirror(s). See OUTSIDE MIRRORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire between outside mirror connector(s) and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
