Defogger Switch Test
NOTE:
Rear window defogger control switch is integrated into Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) controller.
- Remove HVAC controller. See HEATING VENTILATION AIR CONDITIONING CONTROLLER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. DO NOT disconnect HVAC controller electrical connectors. Go to next step.
- Using DVOM, backprobe between Natural 8-pin HVAC controller connector C1 terminals No. 1 and 5. See Figure . Press rear window defogger button on. Resistance should be 324-396 ohms. If resistance is not 324-396 ohms, replace HVAC controller. If resistance is 324-396 ohms, possible causes for system failure are as follows: defective rear window defogger relay, blown fuse, open wire, poor ground, poor connection, defective Central Timer Module (CTM) and faulty bulkhead connector. Repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
