Low Oil Pressure Warning Light Test

Each time ignition is turned on, low oil pressure warning light will come on. When engine is started, and oil pressure rises to greater than 4 psi (25 kPa), low oil pressure warning light will turn off. If oil pressure drops to less than 4 psi, oil pressure light will turn on.

1. To test low oil pressure warning light, turn ignition on. If warning light does not illuminate, check for a loose or open Gray wire at oil pressure switch located at front of engine. If wire is okay, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary.
2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. Using jumper wire, ground connector. Turn ignition on. If warning light does not illuminate, check for burned-out bulb or disconnected socket at rear of instrument cluster. If warning light illuminates, check oil pressure. If oil pressure is okay, replace oil pressure switch.
