Air Bag Control Module (ACM)

The Air Bag Control Module (ACM) is mounted on transmission tunnel floor panel between gearshift lever and parking brake lever. ACM contains impact sensor, energy reserve capacitor and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD). ACM determines direction and severity of impact, deploys front air bags and monitors system readiness. In the event of a system fault, ACM lights AIR BAG warning light and records system DTCs. DTCs and information regarding frequency and elapsed time of faults are stored in OBD memory until fault is resolved and memory is cleared.
